3. submission and presentation of an individual semester work on a chosen topic in the field of aviation and space materials according to the specified requirements.


Following basic knowledge in materials science is required for the course:
fundamentals in materials structure and composition (atomic and molecular structure, crystal lattice and defects, phases and phase transformation), materials classification, physical and mechanical properties of materials (strength, deformation, fracture mechanics, fatigue, creep), manufacturing processes (technology, heat treatment, postprocessing).
